Scion Unveils All-New t2B Concept Vehicle at 2005 New York Auto Show

Scion, from Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., unveiled the all-new t2B (Tall Two-Box) concept vehicle at a press conference today at the 2005 New York International Auto Show.
The t2B concept reflects Scion's key product philosophies of style, versatility, and surprise. It encompasses bold exterior styling, innovative features, and a passenger-friendly interior, all packaged with Scion's requisite fun-to-drive factor.
"The t2B combines the attitude of the xB with the comfort and sophistication of the tC to further reflect the dynamic nature of our buyers, and their desire to be distinctive," said Jim Farley, Scion vice president. "The t2B designers were given the direction to create a concept which would represent the love of owning your first car, and the mindset that your car is more than just a mode of transportation, it's a lifestyle."

Riding on an all-new platform, the t2B is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and four-speed automatic transmission. It is equipped with 14-inch brakes with slotted rotors and 20-inch custom-machined, polished billet aluminum wheels.

Gasoline prices unlikely to budge

President Bush will lament the high price of gas in an energy policy speech this week but doesn't plan to promise an immediate solution.
"There's no magic wand that can reduce the price of gas overnight," says Dan Bartlett, Bush's counselor. "This is an issue that requires national debate as well as substantive change of policy and habits over time."
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.25, according to the American Automobile Association's Web site, www.fuelgaugereport.com. A year ago it was $1.78.
Eventually, Bush said on April 8, Americans must change "the types of automobiles we drive." He has proposed spending $1.2 billion over five years to develop cars powered by hydrogen fuel cells. See full story…
